Dancers, musicians, artists, community organizations and church groups have found a welcome home at The Capital City Grange Hall for over 50 years. But over the decades of use, the Hall has experienced wear and tear that has compromised both the safety and appearance of the building.
The Friends of the Capital City Grange Hall (FCCGH), formed in 2012, is a non-profit designed to help the Grange organization maintain the long-term sustainability of the Hall. From the depths of the furnace to the top of roof, the Friends keep the Grange Hall in shape, raising funds for capital improvements and donating time and expertise to the Hall’s physical care. Recently funded and constructed projects include a new dance floor, upgrades to exit signs and doors, window replacements, renovated bathrooms, improved insulation and floor coverings, a pellet furnace, and a lift to allow people with mobility limitations to reach the stage and the Lower Level. Our current priority is to improve air quality all year ’round with a ventilation system to bring in outdoor air through heat exchangers to both floors–a major investment.
The Friends are a 100% volunteer organization and 501(c)3 non-profit secured through group membership in the Country Dance and Song Society, a national non-profit based out of Greenfield MA. Both the Friends and the Country Dance and Song Society share a mission to support traditional music and dance in accessible community spaces.
