Main Hall and Lower Level: Afternoon Challenging Contra Dance with Elixir & Nils Fredland!

The first of two dances today, featuring Elixir on their Farewell Tour!

Because of the wide interest in Elixir’s Farewell Tour, the Montpelier Contra Dance Committee has arranged to schedule 2 dances on this date:   this “Challenging Contras” dance in the afternoon, and a regular Montpelier Contra Dance in the evening, at the regular time (see the separate listing).   To make sure that everyone can come to at least one dance, and to prevent overcrowding, we are requiring advanced ticket purchase.    For more information, see the MCD website:  www.montpeliercontradance.org/elixir.

CHALLENGING AFTERNOON Contras

The afternoon 2 – 5 pm dance will include challenging contras and shorter walkthroughs. Please join us if:

• You know how to do a roll away, California twirl, pass through to a wave, and contra corners, as well as the basic moves, without being taught

• You know where to be at the start of each dance phrase and how to recover from a lapse

• You assist your partner and neighbor to the next move

• You execute flourishes safely and on time without disturbing others

• You have an awareness of your whole set and work to help make the dance functional and fun for everyone

• You respond to confusion and missteps by others with grace, encouragement and good humor
