The dances of the Afro-Caribbean communities has it’s origins in the African continent.
These classes are currently taught by guest teacher artist and dance ethnographer Dr Cooper.
In class we travel to various parts of Africa including Ghana, Senegal, Benin, Nigeria, Botswana, Congo, Kenya, Uganda, and more.
Dr Cooper trained in Ghana, West Africa and with various prominent artists including Zab Maboungou (Congo/Montreal), Peter Badejo (Nigeria/London), Germaine Acogny (Senegal), Koffi Koko (Benin/Paris) and more.
Various body work techniques like Alexander Technique, Heller work and more
are used in class to help relax your body, move more freely and feel the rhythm.
Learn the root moves of popular dances like Salsa, Rumba, Blues and Swing and find new ways to get inside the groove!
