Carla Kevorkian has been teaching Afro Caribbean dance for fifteen years.  She has worked to bring folkloric dance from the Caribbean to Vermont through workshops and performance since 1990.

She has studied Cuban, Haitian and Brazilian dance and percussion with many inspiring teachers in the U.S. and Cuba including Mona Estimé Amira, John Amira, Reynaldo Gonzalez Fernandez, Pat Hall, Richard Gonzalez, Johnny Scovel, the dancers from Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, the women of Ibbu Okun from Havana, Cuba, and dancers from the folkloric group AfroCuba de Matanzas at classes in Matanzas, Cuba.

In addition to this weekly dance class at the Capital City Grange in Montpelier, Carla plays percussion with the Vermont 10-piece Latin jazz ensemble, Guagua.
