DESCRIPTION:Join us for a “bonus” Community Potluck Dinner after the Holiday Sing-Along!   Bring your favorite dish to share\, or something you picked up from the store\, or whatever you want.   We’ll have a chance to relax and socialize\, and talk about which carols we liked best\, or which ones we found the funniest….all free and open to the public. \nGrange potluck dinners are famous for the amount and variety of foods that people bring–from chips to vegan dishes to roast pork to Indian dals to sweet rolls to baked chicken to salads\, breads\, cheeses\, and desserts galore–you never know what will show up\, but you can count of lots of good choices.  We use the Grange plates\, glasses and silverware\, please don’t bring disposables!  Volunteers welcome for dishwashing after the dinner. \nHope you can join us!   If you’re staying for the contra dance (separate admission) afterwards\, that works as well.  We’ll be cleaning up the tables and washing the dishes by 7:00 so the band and caller can set up. \nQuestions?  Call Tim Swartz at 802-225-8921\, or email me:  swartztim15@gmail.com \n \nHere’s what a recent potluck looked like–hungry people and food for everyone!

DESCRIPTION:A free educational discussion about medical aid in dying\, under Vermont’s Act 39\nThis month\, we are hosting a discussion with Betsy Walkerman\, President of Patient Choices Vermont (PCV).  She will share information about talking with your doctor about options for the last parts of life\, making decisions when faced with terminal illness\, the options available under Act 39\, and personal stories about choices people have made since the law was passed in 2013. \nPatient Choices Vermont was founded in 2002 to support implementation of a legal process to provide end-of-life choices which include physician-assisted-dying.   The law was based on a similar statute in Oregon\, passed in 1997.  You can learn more about the history of the law at the Patient Choices website.  There\, you can also access PCV’s guides to medical decision-making\, advance care for dementia\, advice on how to talk to your doctor about your choices\, and much more. \nPlease join us for an open discussion of the law\, the details of how it works\, the safeguards built into the law\, and the various choices people make. \n \nIn even-numbered months\, the Capital City Grange presents a “program” which will be interesting/entertaining/informative for people of all types!   We’ll post information about the program\, the presenter(s) and the subject here.  We plan on audience involvement\, so bring your questions\, concerns and opinions on the topic for the program with you!  No charge\, and open to the public! \nAnd please–stay for the Community Potluck from 6:00 to 7:00–always lots of excellent food and excellent socializing–also free and open to all.
