DESCRIPTION:Following guidelines from the CDC and the VT Dept. of Health\, the Contra Dance Umbrella (CDU)\, the volunteer committee which runs this dance series has decided to cancel all dances through May 30th.   \nOur goal is to help “flatten the curve” of Coronavirus infections\, so that we can all get healthy as soon as possible.  One of the things we love about contra dancing is the contact with others; unfortunately that is currently an especially efficient way in which this virus can spread!   We recommend that people in the dance community stay in touch\, and check the Contra Dance page on this Grange website for the latest information. \nYou can also sign up for the CDU email list\, and get periodic updates.   Just send an email to:  cdu.tim@gmail.com. \nInformation will also be posted on the Montpelier Contra Dance Facebook Page \nWe also recommend that\, if you can\, you go to the website of your favorite musicians\, callers and sound-people\, and send them some financial support.   All of the greatly talented people who perform at our dances\, for the pleasure of all\, have lost all income from dances and other performances.  One place to find a list of people needing support is on the website of the Country Dance and Song Society:  https://www.cdss.org/covid19/send-love-to-freelancers \nThe CDSS also publishes a list of dance series\, festivals\, weekends\, etc. which have been canceled:  https://www.cdss.org/covid19/events-cancelled-due-to-coronavirus \nPlease contact Tim Swartz:  cdu.tim@gmail.com with any questions\, as we all get through this rough time together.

DESCRIPTION:Cancelled due to the CoronaVirus Pandemic.\nEvery month (except July)\, on the “First Saturday”\, the Capital City Grange is pleased to host a Community Potluck\, where we hope all kinds of people from Berlin\, Central Vermont–and the wider universe–will join us to share food and conversation.   During the colder months\, we set up tables (on mats to protect the floor) in our Main Hall–accessible to everyone! \nIn August\, we have a cookout\, and eat outside\, either on the parking lot\, or on the ADA entrance porch.   We usually have a gas grill and a charcoal grill\, and welcome people to cook their favorite grill item–meat or vegetable.    \nPeople come from the Grange meeting and/or program that precedes the potluck\, or because they just want a good meal\, and know that there will be a variety of salads\, main dishes\, breads\, soups\, meats\, vegan dishes\, desserts\, dips and spreads\, chips\, beverages–the menu is constantly changing!   Some people come because they will be dancing at the contra dance that comes a little later\, at 8:00.   Some people come because there is always someone interesting to talk to–it might be someone who has presented the program\, or a Grange member\, or a local celebrity\, or a musician or caller–we draw an interesting crowd. \nBring a special dish you like to share\, or a bag of chips\, or a carton of milk\, or a birthday cake you don’t want to eat all of!   There is always lots of food\, and lots of variety. \nWe eat on real plates\, with real silverware–and a few volunteers wash up and socialize afterward.  No paper plates\, please! \nYou probably plan to have dinner–why not make it easy and come to the potluck?
