SUMMARY:MAIN HALL  Grange Meeting Sing-Along! at 4:30 (setup starts at 3:30)
DESCRIPTION:After people deliver their chili to the Lower Level (see the separate “Event” on the Calendar)\, it will be time to….\nSing-Along at our June Meeting!\n           Our June 6 meeting will be the time to sing along with our excellent Grange Musician and song-leader\, Matt Nunnelly.  Our Grange  has always been enthusiastic singers\, enjoying singing during both the opening and closing of our meetings\, and we’ve enjoyed singing more songs when we have the chance.   We’ll pull our chairs up to the stage to harmonize with Matt on songs in our own Grange’s custom songbooks (assembled by Cecile Sherburn)\, in the Grange Songbook\, and as suggested by people present\, until it’s time to hear the judges’ verdict on the chili contest!\nIf you have a special song for singing along–from Scout camp\, from Church camp\, from trips to that special folkie coffeehouse\, or family tradition\, let Matt know by sending him the lyrics and/or music here.   Matt’s pretty willing to add songs to his and our repertoire!\nRemember\, it’s not important to sing perfectly…we want people who love to sing\, however they do it!\nAll Grange meetings and events are free and open to the public; only Grange members can vote on any decisions that we take\, but all are welcome to listen to and take part in discussions. \nJoin us in person\, or via Zoom!\nZoom link for this meeting:\n(This will be posted as we get closer to the date) \nAfter the Sing-Along\, at about 5:45\, it will be time to adjourn downstairs\, and see which chilis the judges have chosen!

SUMMARY:LOWER LEVEL--Grange chili contest!
DESCRIPTION:Please bring your chili to the LOWER LEVEL at 4:15 PM!\n   \nYou can bring the chili in your own crockpot\, or pour it into one of the ones we will have available\, to keep it warm and tasty for the judges to sample.   Please bring along a copy of the recipe you used to make it (or made  up as you cooked this batch!).  Please put your name inside an envelope so that the judges won’t know who made it\, so we can identify the winners after they make the  difficult decision. \nGrange Sing-along will be happening upstairs\, as we drool with the odors of the chili contest from downstairs.   Here are some details\n\n\nThere are 2 divisions:  with meat\, and without meat.  The latter may be made with meat substitutes.  Please label which division yours should be judged in\, but do not put your name on the label!\n\n\nNo chili made from a pre-packaged or canned chili is eligible.   No pre-packaged chili spice mixes are eligible either–we want truly home-made dishes to be entered.\n\n\nRemember:  there is no prize for the “hottest” chili–we want tasty dishes that everyone who wants to can enjoy\, without suffering!\n\n\nWe hope you will make plenty\, so that potluck attendees will be able to sample the entries!\n\n\nGrange members and non-members are welcome to submit entries.  We are encouraging other potluck folks to make other types of dishes\, since not everyone wants to eat only chili for dinner!\n\n\nCooking contest judging criteria established by the State Grange include:\n\nFlavor:  40 points\nAppearance:  20 points\nTexture:  20 points\nEasy preparation:  20 points\n\n\n\nThe entries that get the highest awards from the judges will receive a certificate suitable for framing\, and possibly a small prize\, as well as bragging rights\, of course.\n\n\nFor more information\, call Marty Roberts at 802-223-5506\, or email isabella1813@yahoo.com.\n\n\nAnyone is welcome to bring your chili to State Grange Family Camp at the Grange Center in Brookfield in July (date TBD) to be judged for State recognition\, as well as entering our local contest!
