SUMMARY:MAIN HALL & Lower Level--Set up for Contra Dance
DESCRIPTION:Members of the Montpelier Contra Dance committee\, along with volunteers\, roll up the floor-protection mats\, dust-mop the dance floor\, and set up all the rest of what we need to open the dance at 8:00 PM. \nThe Lower Level is also part of the setup\, as name buttons\, dance flyers\, etc. are put out for dancers to use.  This setup time starts at 7:00 PM on evenings when Grange potluck dinners are held before the dance. \nDancers use the Lower Level to change shoes\, leave coats\, etc. during the dance. \n  \nIf you’re interested in volunteering to help out\, please contact MCD committee member Tim Swartz:  swartztim15@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Waltz before the Contra Dance!
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an all-waltz session\, 7:00 to 7:45!\nThis night\, we offer one of our special waltz sessions before the contra dance starts at 8:00.   The same band that will play for the contra dance will set up early\, and play waltzes\, starting at 7:00.  If you enjoy the waltzes that are traditionally the last dance before the break\, and at the end of the contra dance just before 11:00\, this is an opportunity to do some extra waltzing! \nWe ask for an additional payment of $5 for the waltz session\, so we can pay the band and sound tech for extra playing and early setup\, in addition to the usual contra dance admission. \nCheck the contra dance listing to see info about the band playing for the waltz session. \nWaltz sessions:  every other month! \nWe’re scheduling a waltz session in every odd-numbered month (January\, March\, May\, July\, September & November)\, before the 3rd Saturday contra dance!   If  this is too confusing\, check the website Calendar\, which will have all the info about all the dances.   You can also sign up for the Montpelier Contra Dance email newsletter.   We send out info about waltzes\, contras\, bands and callers a few days before each one.   Sign up at:  https://eepurl.com/dOBuVn \nCOVID policy note:  \nWaltzing and contra dancing are joyful and community oriented — and always involve some risk. DESCRIPTION:Come for waltzing and contra dancing on Sept. 19!\nWe’ll start off with a waltz session (no lessons\, just waltzes!) from 7:00 PM to 7:45\, followed by our regular intro/refresher lesson from 7:45 to 8:00.   Adina will teach it; from 8:00 to 11:00\, she’ll teach and call contra dances!\nMusic for waltzing and contras will be provided by Mo Brachfeld on fiddle\, and Aaron Marcus on keyboard\, concertina and banjo. \n\nOur dance uses gender-neutral role terms\, and we strive to be a safe place for everyone to dance.  Beginners\, singles\, and all ages are welcome; all dances are taught. \nWhen: 1st\, 3rd and 5th Saturdays\, 8–11 p.m: newcomers lesson offered around 7:40 pm \nWhere: at the Capital City Grange in Berlin (located on Northfield Street/Route 12 just south of the I-89 overpass)\, \nCost:  For waltzing\, we ask for $5 per person; for contras\, admission is $12 for adults\, $5 for kids or low-income\, $20 for dance supporters–choose the right price for your budget!  We ask for extra for waltz sessions\, as we pay the performers and sound tech for their extra work. \nWhat to bring: We suggest light\, comfortable clothing — expect to wear short sleeves or a tank top\, even in winter.
